Self-Organizing Maps

Classification of MLB batters in 2016 with Self-Organizing Map (SOM). Similarity is measured by a combination of strikeout-rate, batting-average and walk-rate. The charts below shows the SOM across 20 iterations (the first one is initialization with random generator).

Four batters are tracked across iterations, with two (Trout and Harper) similar type of players.
